Worn Gundidj has a long and credible history of liaising successfully with pre and post employment providers, government departments, community groups and other essential stakeholders across the entire Western Victoria region. Worn Gundidj was the administrative hub for the Commonwealh Development Employment Program (CDEP) in Ballarat, Framlingham, Halls Gap, Heywood and Warrnambool. From October 2005 to June 2007 Worn Gundidj was an Indigenous Employment Centre (IEC) providing services across the Region along with Swan Hill, Kerang and Bendigo in North Central Victoria. Despite the demise of the CDEP and IEC program in Victoria, Worn Gundidj still maintains strong links with all the organisations associated with those CDEPs.
Our current employment contractual obligations lie in the Federal sphere under the Structured Training Employment Program Employment Related Services (STEPERS). Contractual coverage includes Geelong, Hampden and Western District Employment Service Area’s (ESA).
Worn Gundidj supports sustainable employment for Indigenous Australians by providing Jobseekers and or Employers with one or more of the following Services: pre-employment support services that may include the provision of recruitment strategies or services for Employers, including training and work preparation activities - Employment placement services to assist the employer develop, implement and provide strategies in retaining Indigenous participants in the workplace.
- Mentoring services aimed at assisting employers retain their Indigenous employees
- Worn Gundidj can also assist employers and jobseekers in the suite of assistant and services provided by Providers of Australian Government Employment Services. The assistance, below mentioned, is dependant upon PAGES eligibility;
- Financial Assistance for items such as work related licences, work clothing etc
- Negotiation of Wages Assistance and or Subsidies
- Work place modifications for people with disabilities
Furthermore, our profound awareness of current and emerging National and State Government employment programs combined with the flexibility of STEP ERS, lends itself to beneficial outcomes for all parties involved.
